Meet Daisy the dog, who sits in a special chair to eat her food because of her stomach disorder megaesophagus.
Poor Daisy’s auto-immune disease means she needs to sit in the Bailey Chair so gravity can help her food go down.
Her human mom, Grace Jones, was devastated when her four-legged fur baby was diagnosed with the disease a few years ago.
The auto-immune disease causes an enlarged oesophagus which means it is really hard for Daisy to drink water and eat food.
Following her vet’s orders, Grace and her family quickly built the chair for their pooch to make sure Daisy could enjoy her food as comfortably as possible!
Now, Daisy just wants to sit with her loving family and doesn’t mind sitting in the chair as long as it means she can spend her mealtimes with them!
Every mealtime, she rushes into the chair and can even lower the tray herself with her tiny paws!
So adorable!
Dogs with megaesophagus are advised to eat wet, instead of dry food and to remain upright for 20-30 minutes after eating to help with digestion!
Sadly, her mom Grace shared the news that poor Daisy passed away almost a year and a half after her official diagnosis.
“It’s taken me a couple of weeks to be able to write this. My Daisy passed away on Christmas Eve morning. We are heartbroken.
“We are grateful to have had 16 additional months with her after her diagnosis and are grateful for the suggestions and support we received from this group.
“My vet has her chair which will be used by a local pup,” Grace shared on Facebook, writing in a group called “Upright Canine Brigade – Megaesophagus Awareness and Support”.
This adorable canine named Buckley also uses the Bailey Chair to eat his meals, just look at those ears!
