Everyone has a bucket list to tick off. There are always things you wanted to do, but couldn’t because of limited means, resources or circumstances. Even if you’ve lived for almost a century, there will surely still be things you wish you could have done when you were younger!
This is exactly the case for 97-year-old Helen Danis.

Helen, 97, recently had the chance to do something she couldn’t 80 years ago. She attended a high school senior prom for the very first time!
Helen was unable to do that during her time because of financial restrictions.
She told CNN affiliate WJAR, “I couldn’t keep up with the kids. I didn’t really fit in. We were in the middle of a depression and money was scarce.”
But thanks to her beloved granddaughter, Julie Huddon, Helen’s wish finally came true and she managed to tick an item off her bucket list!

Julie got permission from her principal at Pilgrim High School in Warwick, Rhode Island to bring her grandmother to the prom as her date.
Helen got excited and happy when she found out she was going to attend a high school prom.
To give her grandmother a full prom experience, Julie asked Helen to prom as her date.
Julie said, “I got a crown for her and wrote her a note, asking her to be my date to prom.”
Going to a prom is not the only thing Helen did despite her age. She is certainly full of surprises.
“We’ve been doing a lot of things that she has said she wanted to do,” Julie added.
“She sat on Santa’s lap for the first time in December. I never know about her, she’s full of surprises.”
Helen was definitely in the zone when she was at the prom. She was dancing throughout the night, and did the Hully Gully (from the 60s), the Cupid Suffle and the Cha-Cha Slide.
The youthful grandmother was even chosen as Pilgrim High School’s prom queen!

At the age of 97, Helen’s spirit is definitely admirable and youthful. We are so glad that she got to tick off her bucket list.
