A newly engaged couple found out they were meant to be in more than just one way, as just hours after Aldo Cataldi proposed, he received a phone call telling him he was able to donate his kidney to his true love and fiancé, Geraldine Chingosho.
Aldo, who donated his kidney to Geraldine in February, said he didn’t even think twice and wanted to help her instantly.
“Donating my kidney to my fiancé was such a normal thing to for me to do – I didn’t really think about it,” he told SWNS.
All he wanted was for her to get better.

“The most important thing is she’ll feel better and have a better quality of life. I didn’t do it for the spotlight or anything – but because it was the right thing to do,” he added.
Shortly after their first date, Geraldine was sadly diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
She had no luck finding a compatible donor within her family, and eventually needed dialysis daily.
Throughout it all, she had her number one supporter by her side every single day.
“He would come from work after a 12.5-hour shift in the hospital and bring me food,” Geraldine recalled.
“He’d help me get dressed and would speak to the doctors to find out exactly what was going on.
“He was superman – my superhero – while I was poorly. He took care of me and my whole dialysis regime…he basically became my carer.”
Geraldine said she was initially extremely doubtful Aldo would be a donor match as they were different ethnicities.
Now if this doesn't make you believe in the power of love… https://t.co/85XRyio52i

But against all odds, Geraldine received a phone call with the good news while the lovebirds were on holiday to celebrate her birthday—and where Aldo got down on one knee to pop the question!
Aldo donated his kidney to Geraldine after a successful surgery on Feb. 21 at Leicester Hospital, and things have been looking up ever since!
The pair can’t wait for their big day in August, and to spend the rest of their lives with each other.
“Aldo saved my life and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him,” Geraldine told SWNS.
Aww! We wish them nothing but happiness—congratulations on the engagement Geraldine and Aldo!
