The latest viral trash tag challenge is proving that social media can be used for good, and we’re here for it! While the majority of trending posts on social media are either outrageous or hilarious, this latest challenge is here to make a difference.
Using the hashtag #Trashtag, social media users are challenging each other to upload before and after snaps of themselves tidying up an area which has been polluted by debris and trash!
We think the idea is incredible, as annually, a whopping 1.3 billion tonnes of house waste is produced, and a large amount of this sadly ends up dumped in the sea. Just 258 -368 million of the waste gets to 50 of the largest dumpsites in the world!
The challenge went viral when a Reddit user posted a picture of someone who had completed the #trashtag challenge!
“Here is a new #challenge for all you bored teens. Take a photo of an area that needs some cleaning or maintenance then take a photo after you have done something about it, and post it here,” the social media user wrote.
